REFLECTIONS ON MUSIC

“...I can recall there was always a musical instrument fading in and out of my early childhood years. A hollow, curved body of wood strung with tight wires, that when touched, reverberated a sacred tone. A range of ringing bells sparkled like an awakening chime. I remember a small organ my grandmother had, until a time when I noticed the instruments were no longer there. I must have missed them, for once I could afford to, I refreshed my experiments with new instruments of my own choosing. Around that time the albums I’d inherited were so progressive and otherworldly to me I couldn’t dream of emulating them so never dared. A recorded album is a mythology, a parable, a philosophy encapsulated inside the reverberating sound waves which induced forever changing hallucinations. With the aid of headphones the music brought me on a journey of picturesque soundscapes. Just to be able to weave a simple three chord melody and to harmonize a vocal pattern was a giant step. Alone in the quiet darkness of my chamber I became hypnotized by the charming echoes released by my own hand, but the practice involved toward actually learning were intimidating and frustrating. Music is a vast entity, and what muse wants to enter the spirit of a lazy composer? Too ashamed to take proper lessons I labored toward finding the major notes which held the combinations to a hundred opening doors. With great interest in this intricate game of shapes, yet with no desire to study their names, I could be free to listen and discover without theoretical barriers until the echoes fell naturally into place. However, it wasn’t until later in life, once I’d become involved in the wayfaring adventures of Eastern and Western Europe, that my lyrical spirit married with my musical compositions. A twelve string guitar and a sketchbook always accompanied me on my journey. When the dust settled I’d have journals filled with scribbled diagrams of chords and their changes. These structures, mixed with my own perceptions, moods, romances, sceneries, and encounters with long seasons in solitude, evolved simply in the time it took to walk over a bridge and with no particular destination in mind. Layer by layer, throughout a decade, I'd arranged forty compositions into four records in the exact order they were conceived. I’d record them the moment I figured out how to play them. Nostalgia transcends the artist in their time and presents the work in a new surrounding, with fresh young minds to experience their ruins. Retrovue/Overture is a self expression meaning to look behind at everything you are. Each letter in Overture is found in Retrovue. The two words harmonize to recreate this sentiment.”~ MLH

MERIDIAN RAINBOW

Here these days these nights these years

have all revealed their lights through your eyes, love

listening above my gaze stay your stars

do you wish to be drifting in this mystery

reflected in warm lights of dreams?

Seems like a lifetime ago

she was alone inside the square

the sun is vibrating in her hair

Meridian Rainbow

feels like a million moons away

I fell in the fullness of those rays

Awaken the advent of this day

Meridian Rainbow

And there is time for me

to speak these words of reverie in your ear, girl

believe that I have long sung of your song

O, I want to drown inside your ocean, love

surging your tides

swaying the moonlight

I was alone

she was a waterfall

and in the foam

where and when

see you again

SHADOWS OF HEAVEN

O, babe, wait for me on the mountainside

And our love wanes like the fresh spring days

arriving slowly on rolling waves

we lie awake in life’s sweet embrace

beneath the shade the seasons change

Yea, I’m aware the fallen leaves caress your hair

in somnolence among the stars

in contemplation as the evening’s growing dark

you’re twilight dreaming

Time has come

morning soon be gone

let’s leave our tears to fill the ocean

sun is low

let’s wander down below

In shadows of heaven

starlights bloom

reside behind the moon

inside your eyes I see forever

tender glow

once more before the dawn

in shadows of heaven

O, babe, on my way to you

moon waits on the edge of the mountainside for me now

AUTUMN MOON LOVE

After all’s been led

and after all’s been strung

it seems to come undone

laughter’s songs been sung

rights and wrongs been read

it’s time to clear your head

of roseate words once said

how their colours bled

to blue

in timeless silence of the stars

beat our sleeping hearts

dreaming through

Autumn Moon Love

To catch the setting sun

to touch the atmosphere

feeling far when you are near

our drowsy summer days

resplendent in the haze

when I awake will you be here

or has our innocence been sold

for the truth untold

in our youth

while the seasons turn to gold

with the seeds we’d sown

to bloom into

Autumn Moon Love

LONE DISTANT SATELLITE

Lazing on the grass the hours full passing

skies so vast and clouds arranging

on, everlasting world

drift away..

still I’ll only remain

dedicated to you

through and through

Lone distant satellite

rise behind the eye of a moonbeam

stargazing outer spaces are we

chasing shadows left here by the sun

for everyone

buried deep with these ascending reveries

rising from their roots

they’re flowering

why I’m drowning in age old wine

beneath the vine

when I can’t get to you

what else can I do

Lone distant satellite

rise behind the eye of a moonbeam

unseen between the hours are we

chasing flowers floating out to sea

Lone distant satellite

right behind the eye of a moonbeam

stargazing

out of spaces are we

chasing melodies

a little bit of sorrow in my heart for you child

a little bit of richness in my heart

SHE COME AROUND AGAIN

Sun goes down

through the primrose hills of London town

spirits in the trees, rustling their leaves

red and brown

shades of blue

reappear in twilight

all in all my favorite view has always been the sea

Come on,

She come around again

I would stay if I knew when

Far too many hours have been spent awaiting seasons to begin

O, O, she come around again

I can hardly wait to celebrate

The time of my return

Farewell, my friend

for are we not wayfaring men?

going there alone

drifting farther than we know

unaware

of the reason to despair

already so low the undertow swept me away

GREENWOOD MOUNTAIN DAYS

Below the moon the road is stirring

shadows emerge

along the rows of golden windows

glowing round the turn

there is powder in the snowstorm

a hound heard in the distance

the listless sound of trains in town

This winter eve

with my cloak receding ‘gainst the wind I say

what better gift can gods divine

than left behind

like the wine is for the poet

madness, the courageous

remembrance for long lost ages

And when the clouds were weeping where the sky was turning grey

what did you tell me

The sun shall pass over your head again

shining through

like a friend on the hillside

these Greenwood Mountain Days are ending soon

But they will renew

These Greenwood Mountain Days all end this way

La la la la la

YOUR LOVE IS BETTER

Life finds a moonless island

steal away another day

run to the silent stars

in the midnight hours of the waking fields

dream love

hazy as a rain lull

leave go

echoes on the wind

Calling you away again

under the waves

it’s been so long

we cannot count the days

when we’ll awake

under the waves

island of the waves

reaching out for you

I found a place between the fallen trees and the effigies

once ether skies divided

gods decide to reunite

and reaffirm

Heaven is the only World

I say

Won’t a light shine tomorrow?

Although we have nothing

And sorrows sing deep in our garden and always..

your love brings

lingering kisses

sweet with delight

always you

take me higher

your love is better

JOY

April stirs in our misty gardens

where you eclipse the sun, the moon, the stars

I bend to kiss you

your lips are strong and taste of wine

makes me feel divine

All the time left in the world

Is all I’ll ever be

and all the love left in you girl

is all I’ll ever need

to bring me joy

Emerald Isle

where’s your rivers flow

So I may follow on downstream

and fill our souls with your springtime music

we were born to lose this

SWEET WINE

I’m riding to this lonesome mountain

Long and steep is this road I climb

with six new strings and a cast of sweet wine

to ease my mind

I sold my silver for a hollow body

and crimson drops of rain

for where I’m going trouble never find me again

I’m riding to this lonesome mountain

flying high

with six new strings and a cask of sweet wine

STAR

In the fragrance of the springtime

Everything

changing from water to wine

with the joy you bring

Ah, the days were ripe for love

the nights were right for love

and all above came down for us

in visions of our wonderlust

O, how stardust breezes blow away

As a child I wept for the old man in the sand

and slept awhile until the waves crept through my hands

and on the tides the winds they whispered of a woman’s voice

O, then you were my star

We came alive in poems and seaside rendezvous’

your tragic eyes they might intoxicate the moon

despite the dying light we’d lie awake together

O, when you were my star

In the fields of earth and sandstone

I was digging dawn to dusk

her mist was drifting all around me

changed my bones to rust

Ah, the days were ripe for love

the nights were right for love

I walked the night alone ‘til the road had turned to stone

warm in the wine I shared with the townspeople below

all life is wandering

Where’s there to go?

O, when you were my star

Star, been a long time gone

I’m trading tonights for tomorrows

in the wake of our dreaming unborn

return, to a darkness unchanged

I’m gazing over my shoulder

older, believing in days that remain

so near, so dear, and so far

floating we are

stars on the waves

WELCOME

First impressions don’t mean much

need time to grow

to gain a trust on gravity

or you’ll never know

open notes, they’re like windows

for easy friends

so come on round, sir

chime on in

they’re making it now

yes

I can’t recall hearing your name

would you say it once more please

you look as if you’ve seen the ghost of twenty centuries

and if you wish to leave them lying at the bottom of the sea

well be my guest, it’s warm inside

a friend is all you need

yes..

AFTERGLOW

Gather children there’s an evening song

the fire’s stirring

O, to see your faces in the morning rain

glowing just the same

so glad that you came to stay

This light is ours tonight

we can make it easier

we can make it easy if we try

stepping stones are worn with walking

still we found a place to stay

we can learn to love the end of days

Once on a weekend drive

the highway lines became tomorrow

shipwrecked in the sand

in a strange new land

we’re all left standing there

with flowers in our hair

I say..

HIGHER LOVE SONGS

Stay, we can find another key to sing for the evening

listen my friend to that bird on the wind

coming back this way

for all time you’ve been waiting

well here is your chance

for our signs are everchanging

cast your nets with open hands

In Higher Love Songs

we gonna rise together

in light of the dawning sorrow

in Higher Lovesongs

they gonna shine forever

in spite of the mourning silence

Let your words be true, dear

and bring every new year

a bloom for the stone

Gonna sing a new song for you love

today is our lucky day it’s all that’s left for us

for all time you’ve been waiting

here is your chance

for our signs are everchanging

cast your nets with open hands

IN OUR TIME

A cool rain come rumbling down

the day we lose the sun

and we’ll stumble in the forest moonshine

singing evening songs

all rise, gonna make a run for the riverside

gather my children all we leave behind

In our time

In our time

I’ll come to you

A diamond shining new

in beauty, in youth

reflecting through

these incandescent ruins

your beauty renews

your beauty is true

The road draws so steep and narrow

shadows seem as one

carry on stir the embers glowing

burning for the dawn

inside this eternal horizon

all stars fade

glisten in wonder

of the dreams we made

In our time

In our time

EMERALD NETHERWORLD

Gone down Hempstead Heath

bent beneath September showers

here the seasoned leaves

they seem so new to change

I’m trying to find a way

to you, baby

I’m trying to make it on

before the storm

In my netherworld resembling heaven truly

Emerald Netherworld I’m choosing your illusion

yes I know

every time I fall you are standing over me

and once I let it go I wake inside your dream

wish I could love you all

all through the evening

Ah, these sanctifying tides

drawing near a raging seaside

for what begins with time

always ends in joy

this wave is gonna break

I’m gonna make it on

before the storm

ROUNDABOUT

The silver sun had drank up all the wine

by the time I trickled back to the village

spent the day beside the old church gates

the scent of blossoms rotting on the slates

yea I was there when the breeze rose through the air

lingering in the barren meadow

beloved you had followed too

while crickets creek in woven hollow trees

Say a prayer to be somewhere for the wintertime

take a ride be gone longing for spring

autumn brings the fragrant sting of a summerlove waiting

yea I’d rather stay

it’s easier to let things come my way

Lovely creatures of consolation cheer my gloomy days

while nature around us decays

lofty spirits abandoned in this nest of flames, rejoice

don’t mourn for tomorrow, rejoice

As the train began to crystallize

aligning time with spaces racing citybound

the scenes were changing evenly arranged

I heard someone say

There goes the overground

Bells they rang in the august evening

in the spirit of a heartfelt sadness

beloved you had followed too

where sparrows bloom from shadows of the moon

ISOLATE TEMPLE

Laughing sky

far from home

I was alone and always waiting for the turn

landscape lines

lives unchanged

the funerals arranged before they place you in the ground

Looking on the road was rising in the dark

lord I was gone

but you are standing in the light

Lord I could feel the wheels are turning round

burning the bridges down

coming on home to you

You’ll see me through the light under the sun

transfix the night

until my mind’s undone

I’m coming on home to you

Churchyard people

why are you weeping?

this isolate temple stands as it has always been

this isolate temple stands as it has always been

Looking on

the road was rising in the dark

Lord I was gone

but are standing

in the light

RAINY AFTERNOON

Inside my room where time has stayed

through steady drops and drains

the pipes have burned and the pages turn

to face me once again

I want to score these words to hear

before the thought can disappear

The gifts you gave to me were everything and evermore

I found them waiting there between the footsteps from your door

in fields of green

and greens of gold

in silver streams

of country roads

Rainy Afternoon

what are we going to do

Rainy Afternoon

Where are we going to

Something that you said to me

so many years agone

I’ve drifted into reverie

kind spirits linger on

Beyond the clouds

rush sights unseen

while gentle shrouds

hush us to sleep

ELIXIR

Ancient amber hollow

lavender and candle light our room

fragrance smooth and mellow

bathing in the sentience of our soul

the glow of your face

always radiates a lover’s gaze

darling, this taste

your kiss initiates nocturnal embrace

Now we’re taking our time

on the Northern line moving past the gate

and truly the sun tells me you are the one

as we walk down the lane

passing the park with the view on the hilltop

it’s started to rain again

Greenheart, summer evening

spirits surrender earth and sky

delight in tender healing

in the morning we can wake inside

the avenue shapes

how they move away in solitude these days

let’s draw the shades

this lonesome life it fades

with all of the moon to stay

all of the moon to stay...

WOULD THAT I COULD

Just drive on the horizon highway

view the night behind the day

radiate fortune for cultivating in the sun

I can tell the sign on the rise

it’s no surprise

seeing you smiling through your heartache

it’s tiny stars that light up the dark

there is a start

to ending those lonely hours in the sun

I would that I could

On faithful dream

deliver us a place of peaceful times

so we may shine good tidings

Breathe all you believe into a living dream

to the west, love

unto the east

come free a better world inside a waking dream

Wait, transcending another space

where everyone together can recreate

there’ll be time to share

a love that’s there

with every year so dear

to come undone

ANGEL WITH HORNS

I was only wishing

you’d turn your light my way

my thoughts have been heavy all the day

I’m all that you are you’ll see

life is revolving seen from afar

from another star

rain all evening

my mind’s been weaving

with dreams of you, love

DREAMCHILD

A song in the wood softly wakens

drawn from a place we all been before

the faces we wore, pure and defenseless

remember the way Godslove made us feel

Heaven and Earth

Ether and Day

you came to change your life to gold

and the rights just can’t be sold

stay with the moon

or run with the sun

the one you waited for was you

now don’t you tear your soul in two

Ride on the wind

right through the ages

surrender to grace

not the choosing of sides

losing our minds

to illusions outside

Heaven and Earth

Ether and Day

you came to change your life to gold

and the rights just can’t be sold

stay with the moon

or run with the sun

the one you waited for was you

now don’t you tear your soul in two

I’m still gonna love you more

still gonna love you more and more

EDWARD MY FATHER

Father, mine

makes me the time

to come from behind

and leave no trace

on the lines of his face

he gave something to offer

lately I’m living for

his open door

that leads me there

sharing all our secrets

we care to keep a promise

And you believe in my heart

I do believe in your heart too

Nearest friend

I understand

the change is here

for every plan

and when your wisdom finds me

I’m so glad to listen

And you believe in my heart

I do believe in your heart to

Yes, I do

WHAT OF THIS REMAINS

How’d the weight of day

get so heavy

now the words they burn

with each return

You learn to break without the rules

rules are for fools

like you and me

always better things to plan

our wonderland

by the stormy sea

Sometimes we lose a friend

in the blue skyline

still the city lights shines

grey in your mind

You learn to break without the rules

rules are for fools

like you and me

always better things to plan

our wonderland

by the sandy sea, yea

want to see things as they are

don’t want to be blind

I want to be free tonight

and you can make it all worthwhile

THE FEAST OF ROBYN ZEPHRAEDA

With the jingle of a chime

tree shakes and blackbirds fly

and the carriage rolls over the bridge

only to go back again

the morning calls, so out you fall

walking boots, pipe, and cane

On the way, climb past the lonesome clay pot garden

some things they aught to stay the same

there on the hilltop, all life awaiting summer’s end

for what lies ahead

And nearing yet far in the distance

the old stone tavern that I once knew

and inside this room

was the Feast of Robin Zephraeda

that martyr of mystical tunes

who died in this very saloon

They filled my head with wine and song

my heart belongs unto this day god had made

enchanting prayer, dancing on air

our spirit shares

o, how we laughed with joy

one vibrant voice echoing in halls

as shadows rise taller than before

out through the door I still hear them now

in howling rain

and the sound of wind chimes

on my windowpane

LUMINOUS ABYSS

Luminous day

counting on colors of paint

to help me relate the natural world

smoke on the leaves

as they were blowing from trees

in solemn night all one needs to tell

and so from pages on shelves felt their visions myself

soundwaves rehearsed voices heard

sculpted from stone

some say he lived there alone

droning visions on tape

the station replayed

while his manuscripts fade

spoke through centuries of rhymes thru pictures in time

Believe in the grave mans eyes

thinking about you, thinking about you, I’m thinking about you now

NOW THE SKY

Where did you go

my brother’s friend

skipping through the air

crashing here nor there

bold faces wept

behind a smile

your photographic eyes

they stared for quite awhile

we’re thinking about you

thinking about you

thinking about you now

I’m hoping you can know

how bright the spirits you made glow

beneath lamplight dreams your troubled soul

while the world you reached for keeps you down

I can see that now

Reading rooms of ancient phrases

Foretold the fates of these days

Iron bells in winter solstice

Ring out the memory

Please, I’m sorry for the words I say

I’ll miss you on that summer day

When you come running ,

When you come running after me

TRAIN TO SALISBURY

Spin the numbers wheel

there’s always fun in games

with your appeal

in the end you can try again

O, no, you can never try again

After all the high times

worth their while in our lives

new loves of mine they used to be

but when these splendid spirits bring

their shades of lunacy

you take the train to Salisbury

one way gold

A cottage (god is) in the field

stars like blood congeal

they bring us peace

safe beneath

this evening’s grace

O, yea, my mind is stretching out in space

After all the high times

worth their while in my life

what loves of mine they used to be

but when those splendid spirits bring

their shades of lunacy

you take the train to Salisbury

WINDSONG

So long, my aim was less than true

where I’d land I’d seldom knew

there’s a chance I’d been the fool

enchanted by life’s phantom view

and some days I’d not the eyes to wake

admired by time’s escapes

with the keys tossed in the deep

for navigating destiny

Once I heard a windsong sung from the river

mystical tone blown on the breeze

weaving a maze drawn down from the mountain

slow and serene, float on a dream

strumming the notes that rose off the water

skipping on stones, whistling trees

living at ease with nature surrounding

rhythm of space

spirit at peace

Somewhere with feathered pen in hand

lighted candle on the stand

in the trance of my abyss

utopiates to bear the bliss

and the moon vibrating wings above

the owl and the doves

and the rabbits on the grass

their gazes cast on mirrored glass

Once I heard a windsong sung from the river

mystical tone blown on the breeze

weaving a maze drawn down from the mountain

slow and serene, float on a dream

strumming the notes that rose off the water

skipping on stones, whistling trees

living at ease with nature surrounding

rhythm of space

spirit at peace

RETROVUE-OVERTURE

It’s alright now

my brother won’t you show me you’re not down again

when you’re so close to the edge

rise like the wings across the sea

or descend your wall

so you may break my fall

there are so many ways to be

So when someone is at the door

we let them in and ask how’s their day’s been

and did you bring the sunshine in

take a rest and stay awhile

we’ll pour the wine that’s fresh from the season

we’ll break the bread and celebrate

And at the end of the day

my sister will you hold my hand let’s pray now for

the welcome spirits we’ve drawn

I hear the wolf cry in the night

the moon’s a lonesome silent face

for those who’s steps are traced

without a friend to share the pace

That’s why when someone is at the door

remember the reason why they have come for

so we can play a seaside song

well life has a nice surprise

the sound of guitars and distant drums

reminds me of when I was young

I was young once

just as you are right now

floating on the wings of angels

magic skies, dazzling shapes above the ground

phantom skies, all god’s creations

I can’t describe this feeling face to face with words

but I shall speak station to station

like a star that burns out and falls unto the earth

I felt severed from my maker

but there’s a lifeline for the weight we must climb

some nights they’ll be sorrow

find the light in the shadow

embracing both sides

we must cut through or be blind

our fear hides the secrets

from the spirits we’re seeking to find

I won’t let them bring you down

No I won’t let them bring you down

maybe tonight

you’re gonna see that I’m right

All that’s good in my heart

wanna give it to you

All that’s good in my heart

gonna give it away

ACROSS THE WAY

I’ve been awakened by the wind love

to hear the birds and bees

the bending reeds and willowed streams

I’d stay at home a lifetime

my bones below the shade

the fading colours of the day

been coming down in my old town

all summer long

Speak to me in the words

of dreams I like

if the urge seems true

might I follow

To be gone through a wonderous age

lost on the wings of a nightflight

dawning twilight rides again

there’s a long line until the end

am I alright feeling it’s easy to change

from across the way

Moonglow serenades the silent pines in the haze

this hour’s where I leave my things to go

escaping this fancy ruin

with antiquated view

California light that fire

the engine’s timed for a one way drive

and I’ve nothing to lose

How long have you been waiting

I’ve just been easing on

OVER THE MOUNTAIN

Lover, drown the day and drink away

these wine dark seas of madness

carry on the tides all through the night

rush the evening breeze

chaste memories

how capture fleeting moments

when clouds inspire change and winds arrange

the seasons lost at last we are gaining

Over the mountain, love

shadows passing into daylight

over the mountain, love

seaside sings her songs for you

Islands of the sun

Isles of the moon

child in your waking hours stay

embracing the greyest flower a rainbow

Mother she gave it all away

Converging forest springs, trickling

untold in age old whispers

this ripe magnetic night where stars divide

her pulse flows through the valley

in gardens fresh of stone and flesh and bone

all things appearing to disappear

STATION SONG

If I could be in a whiskey bar with an old guitar

I would sing this song for you

sung so sour, so carelessly and bittersweet

in these late hours

unwinding streets

that lead tonight into the morrow

some may follow and some they stay

we pay our way

sometimes we borrow

another round before the station

meeting as we pass

sipping a tall glass

of suffering and jubilation

So on I’ll drive

in a 69’ Ford Econoline

to feel the stars

shining through the forest

while these boulevards

will branch on out into quiet towns

where sounds subside

the crowds divide

to lead tonight into the morrow

some may follow and some they stay

we pay our way

sometimes we borrow

another ticket for the station

meeting as we pass

barely time to tip our hats

the train keeps rolling down the tracks

LAKESIDE REFLECTION

Maybe love all the world should listen what your saying

hear in their hearts, here in their soul

maybe this time your light is all I require

o, mama

o, papa

revolution, the presence passed and turning for the future

spinning ever close to you

In a lakeside reflection

I’m walking beside you, yea

with your eyes to the wasteland

rising behind you there

Autumn whirlwind girls

rising from the shady gloom of mourning

tis’ the dawning of your golden age

to taste your mysteries you must burn the bridges of your disbelief

to walk upon those salted seas

alleluia

for all time I’ll carry this illusion

o, Maya, o, Maya

In a lakeside reflection

I’m walking beside you, yea

with your eyes to the wasteland

rising behind you there

yea, it’s true, girl

I was restless, too

JAPANESSE WAKE

Frosted hillside

green soaking meadow

winds me down beside the water’s edge

‘twas there that she released her gaze

beyond the morning light

her raging rivers calm

Child of tragedy

majesty of sorrow

no temple or stone shall forsake you now

empress of endless eves

for yesterday’s tomorrows

the deepest kisses from your dripping heart

Opal twilight

misty orchids drowsing

beneath the weight of a fallen sky

her hair is free

her eyes become reflections of the seasons

she’s left behind

Child of tragedy

majesty of sorrow

no temple or stone shall forsake you now

empress of endless eves

for yesterday’s tomorrows

the deepest kisses from your dripping heart

wild infinity

mad passions to enrapture

moistened earth dry leaves embrace your flower

temptress of tameless tears

your darkest dreams have captured

the sun, the moon, the timeless silence of the stars

NIGHT AND SEA

Gaze awhile into this night

Dream the dream that’s always there

of starlight yonder, moon air

silent as the milk green sea

beneath a drowsy garden stair

gently awakening to her prayer

Alalalalalalalalala

Alalalalalalalalala

Her brilliance guiding rising tides

her distant fires reflecting here

whirlpools of tempest blue reappear

sparkling crash of bursting waves

drowning deep in glitter skies

enchanting night and sea collide

Alalalalalalalalala

Alalalalalalalalala

Bella, I call to you now

your songbirds have come around and gave me wings

Michaela, what flowers shall tomorrow bring

together someday we can chase the sea

Bella, I call to you now

drifting through magic lands of make believe

Michaela, I’d fall from trees like autumn leaves

to rise with your skies on this summer’s eve

I’m saving your love

for another day, another way

SANCTUARY

Overcast morning breaking

my streams have chased the seas to fields of stone

being our fate’s forsaken

I’m keeping faith in something passing on

Timelessness forshadows

everything the rain drops in

through the clouds

We found our way after we’ve gone

your light is always shining on

Let not the waves

separate us from these days

dream serenade made real

we have felt wings

soaring in a million spaces

rest on the wind with me

sweet melody

between the years it lingers

Sanctuary, lost soul

Here’s where I built my temple

sandshells and pebbles swept off the shore

a tower as tall as heaven

and still the ocean she brings me more

wilderness of windsongs

sounding in mountain storms

to adore

We found our way after we’ve gone

your light is shining on

A SAINT'S BOUNTY

Ghost of the hours

This here has come to me in a wide awakening dream

and on the eve of my destruction

did I receive my new instructions

they said remain on the scene

forever changing your destination

for you can never be two places at once

In the end all things begin

the riverbanks they have risen

tranquil song carry on filling the air

A saint’s bounty

carry it out with me

stealing lightly through the

this poor man’s treasure

for a shilling more

buys a whiskey at the inn

And when your mind is full

alleviate your soul above the stone

of nature’s gifts it’s the one

yes, love has come and gone

tomorrow’s sun it shall be shining on

be not afraid to end the day

Vanishing nocturne

always through darkness unveils the day

these mournful shades

madness, the heart which dies

childless soul to long to belong

when we’re all here and gone

flowering river, finding your way back on not alone

to the ocean return

sanctified, there’s freedom in wine

for all to share

we send a prayer

to break the bread with those we love

for all we care

where are the gods

who rose from heroes and monsters

aliens, sent from the mountaintops

and far from below

we are the ghosts

casting our hard luck to the stones

lovers find love, archers draw arrows

piercing shadows..

oracle moon

let the cycles resume

for the time beings

TWO OLD FRIENDS

My old friend

I believe in your becoming

once again your spirit soars between the gloom

it’s alright, it’s alright, it’s alright

to look behind at everything you are

No matter what the others say these crashing down days

are the embrace of restless dreams come true

and melancholy memories feel suddenly free

as you stay by the fire to play

a melody

and the strings of notes you use

makes it easier to choose

the familiar tunes of hummingbirds and blues

warming up with you

You reap in the evening

what morning has grown

all strung out on the distant shoreline

dark in the soul

you feel the cold caress of madness leading you on

shake me with your bright eyed laughter

I’ll come a long way

for the sun to cast a golden haze

and the moon in silent incantation

all awakens

for two old friends

PASSAGE

Steal away, break the day

have faith in your own weight

birds in their bowers stay there

watching and waiting

breathing in, breathing out

inside of that old world

vessels pound on a crystalline shore

their horns resounding

o, yea

I like your young hearts filled with promise

turn around and be gone, arise and shine

tiresome lives, end on this night

bringing tides of joy and light

why you waiting for the riverboat man

he’s gonna take you back as soon as he can

Steal away, break the day

the chains have been let free

billowed sails all are raised in the breeze

faint hills receding

yonder over misty veils of sea

your spirits leading

run away, come what may

cease now your dreaming

free to fly with a tear in your eye

no time to tell me

goodbye, farewell

SPIRIT OF THE TIMES

Twilight hours and your thoughts are all I need now

Waiting for you as your traincar arrives in town

sunlights burning and your wings are yearning to try

Raise from your grave

by the beat of your heart

you shall save me

Child of the moonlight

radiate with your eyes

and you will shine in your darkest hour

We can sail through the cool blue changes of this afternoon

where there’s no future, there’s no failure in our cocoon

so hypnotized by modern life

then there’s the bridge we hadn’t realized

for all this time

Raise from your grave

by the beat of your heart

you just might save me after all

Day into night

with the weight of these words

they release me from the earth

Yea, we’re alive

release the earth from our eyes

to see the stars in the sky

YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING TO BELIEVE

Light shine on the one

we want to give

the world inside a dream

we wish to live

behind the veil of this

disenchanting scene

You gave me something to believe

since the moment you appeared

on the edge of eternity

here I’ll wait with you

Let’s go...

to the blue of your moonlit room now

O, girl, I wish to hold you awhile

Our eyes won’t conceal this

so we let all our feelings be shown

these times they will leave us

for now I must let it be known

You gave me something to believe

since the moment you appeared

on the edge of eternity

EVERY LAST EMBRACE

Which days remain, love

through our summertime

it’s strange to wish them all goodbye

in the morning clouds are easing

all the way around our mind

The road without you

times were hard to carry on

I want to tell you why, my love

And I will pray with you tonight

should this plane take flight

and fade away into the sights

cast our fortune to the sun

live each moment on the run

Love is for everyone anon

turn it on..

Our hosts been gracious

banquet slakes our thirst

we must have squandered half the day away

late in the evening

rounding moon above

swimming in a pool of stardust

The road without you

for days the rains came down

it was a lonesome sound, my love

But I did break free of that race

and the dreams they chase

in time for every last embrace

Face to face and hand in hand

trace our footsteps in the sand

let’s never let the music end

just let it in

Beside the ocean we will rise

with the waking of the tides

they crash as memories arrive

THE OTHER

All along the road you’re gonna find a revolution

spilling it’s way into the streets over again

but your thoughts are on the tops of trees

and the warming of the breeze in the air

unweave you from despair

Keep the light shining till tomorrow

you can make it you don’t need to borrow

some one’s hand

to make a stand

All along the road you’re gonna find a revolution

a kind of retribution for the changes of the past

riding that stallion headlong

you must think it’s built to last

Keep the light shining till tomorrow

you can make it you don’t need to borrow

someone’s hand

to make a stand

the other one is you

the other one is true too..

OUTSIDE THE MAZE

In the half light clouds the view

shines the only life we knew

should we leave here must we lose

precious moments

close our eyes we'll be removed

from the halls of this ancient tomb

take my hand we'll be there soon

guide us onwards

guide us on...

They found a way

they found a way inside

We'll try to run and hide

Outside the Maze

Revelations of their doom

gravitating towards the moon

what direction to be rescued

what direction do we choose?

They found a way

They found a way inside

We'll try to run and hide

Outside the Maze

Outside the Maze

Outside the Maze

THE FACE OF THE EARTH

As light reveals what dark conceals

so shall our spirit heal

be brave my love

leave a trace of your love

be brave my love

you’re a child of the sun

wait, don’t stray

won’t you stay with me here

Is there reason to fear the face of the earth?

wait, don’t stray

won’t you stay with me dear

Is there reason to fear the face of the earth?

Space it is made by all that remains

so shall our soul be saved

Be brave, my love

leave a trace of your love

be brave, my love

you’re a child of the sun

wait, don’t stray

won’t you stay with me here

I’m beginning to fear the face of the earth

wait, don’t stray

won’t you stay with me dear

I’m beginning to fear the face of the earth

WONDERLOVE

(instrumental)

TRUCE

Truce

let’s make a truce

we’re on an island

just you and I friend

name

we each have a name

we don’t need a target

better to respect each other’s aim

so you do your thing I’ll do mine

there’s no race to face the end of time

Holy Mother

Sister, Brother

Krishna, Allah

Stranger

do you have the same dream?

changing your scene now

your eyes are green and brown just like the earth

Holy Mother

Sister, Brother

Krishna, Allah

MEPHISTO

Trust your eyes to see

for no one of us is free

but together we move that stone from an early grave

the zephyr feeds the fire

with the flames of it’s own desire

whenever she disappears the spirits fold their wings

where on this earth can one find peace of mind?

I did not know you before today

but I say

you strike me as someone I’d like to take away

out of this world

where the phoenix has soared through the air

would you ride with me there?

JADE

(instrumental)

MUSIC FROM MY CHAMBER

Just a moment, stay

shall we play another hour

the master and the slave

no danger in the tower

In silence, wake

don’t take your eyes from me

they’re shining on the key

inspiring symphony

Inside the chamber, love

I am not alone

You know I’d walk with you into the sun

so life feels free and easy

Jike time’s just begun

Music fills the soul of everyone

Sweet dreams, my dear

we’ll hear a little while

don’t take away your smile

tomorrow’s another day

Inside the chamber

of my solitude

this guitar can shake away these blues

so life feels free and easy

like time’s just begun

Music fills the soul of everyone

My spirit right beside you

you’re not alone

life feels free and easy in the sun

so life is free and easy

like time’s just begun

Music fill the soul of everyone

CITY

Turn left onto 110 West

go round the university steps

Cafe or bistro

either way we’re snow bound

We can’t get out of town

might as well

take a walk

across Central Park

With your snow boots on

it’s damp and dark

I don’ t mind

your hand is in mine..

Stranded at the bus stop

must’ve landed

after fifty blocks

Amsterdam

toward Morningside

we can hide

in each other’s arms

with the music on and on...

in the candlelight

not expired right yet

melting the hours

falls to shadows

on the bedroom walls

before morning finds us

together again

pure heaven

BOULEVARD

Evening

when I saw you

the first time

7 April

on line

At the Saint Regis Hotel

Hey

Say you will

be my darling

for the spring

Wading through

the neon jade

Saturday

rising with the sundown

I want to tell you

maybe this summer

how much I love you

you make me wonder

about the future

without a world that I once knew

say you will

be my darling

PARK

Sunny day

let’s go out and play

Wilson’s here

We’ll take him down

to the park in town

we’ll let him out

Around the pond

we wander stone to stone

along with you

I’m the lucky one

these days grow longer still

we can linger until

twilight calls us...

To West 9th. Street

the restaurant’s Japanese

They serve green tea and beer

A souvenir

or do we take a look

at St. Mark’s books

We just might recognize him on the shelves

That kind of memoir seldom oversells

yellow lights turning

read the sentences

On a central park bench

BRIDGE

Bridge

Down off Roebling Street

Stay awake

Eyes they dream

through the seeds of life

on the lower east side

Summer breezes blowing through your hair

Amber and indigo

Below, the wine dark river

sparkling silver tapestry

Electric cars

round the drive like stars

Speed of sound

We don’t have far

Home to Morningside.

Why not stretch our bones awhile

In the gentle rain

City lights are glowing through your hair

Amber and indigo

strolling alone just you and me

through all the old familiar streets

ROOFTOP

Never late

party on the rooftop

fire escape

careful looking down

City lights

flicker in the back drop

by this way

for another round

and the sound

of the traffic drowning the piano

while the conversation rises with a laugh

That woman there

I swear that she is staring

at you man

go on have a care

lesson free

especially talking with

uncertainty

when you’re looking down

on the townspeople

just going on about their business

to you Professor this must seem very dull

Moon is full

out on the horizon

waiting there

so I can ring her door

down the stair

floating toward the turnstile

after all she’s the only girl for me.

From the street I’m still hearing Steven’s piano

all the way up Columbus Avenue

DEAD POET

Hsia-Fei

Hsia-Fei Chang

I see you face

on the lane

in the rain

Hsia-Fei

Hsia-Fei Chang

I see your face

on the lane

in the rain

Behind the chair

on the floor

once the words

he meant for love

Now they’re framed

above the bar

remain the words

unsent to her

Ling-Ji Hon

Ling-Ji Hon

I wandered on

before the storm

It was not warm

Behind the chair

upon the floor

once the words

he meant for love

Now they’re framed

above the bar

remain the words

unsent to her

CONSERVATORY

(instrumental)

NOT AFRAID TO DREAM

Can I be a bookmark on your shelve

open a page to smile at me

the softest pillow on your couch

to lay your head down

can you hear my laughter in the wind

outside of your apartment walls

if you like I’ll climb on in

to the wine of your thoughts

You see I’m not afraid to dream

sometimes great and sometimes small

in these clouds above the sea

are wings of the sky

like to be a memory o so rare

familiar while you wake

shining moonlight on your stair

before your sunny day

In this life I’ve always been

keepsake whispers in a song

in my time I’ve not yet seen

one to love as dear as you

MUSEUM

Up stone steps

through glass doors

marble aisles

pay your dime

hallowed halls

unholy wars

master’s mind

still alive

for you to see life through his eye..

From his atelier

where he threw himself away

to be preserved in a museum

In his atelier

Such a pleasant day

for the presentation

time allows

Abstractions of

impressions of

reenactments of

selections of

imaginary words intact

In his atelier

such a pleasant day

to be received posthumously

From his atelier

where he threw himself away

to be preserved in a museum

Light is real mood is blue

I can almost feel

this is where he stood

CATHEDRAL

(instrumental)

CAFE

Dawn

arising with night’s caress

this sacred grace

only a soul can touch

and lover’s taste

they’re free at last

With eyes

bathing in mystery

cathedral chimes

surprising the passersby

beneath the rain

they drift away

to remain dry

At the Cafe

corner table with one view

three croissant and coffee two

for the weekend day

This never ending

conversation growing roots

students hunched in study groups

too tight to move

At the Cafe

now the light is shining through

on the pages old and new

find a word that’s true

Columbian coffees

are the pastries Viennese?

the waitresses’ Hungarian

and the owner’s Greek

Friend

you’re still my friend

sometimes life gets tricky you know that

depends

on where you’re at

it’s sad

Ive lost so many friends I had

in youth

and with age

you know..

the more I say might make you stay

BOTANICAL GARDENS

(instrumental)

MARTIN'S DREAM

There you are

on the golden wooden floor

in silent turbulence

let’s get some air

want to take a ride in the car?

alright I’ll close your door

Time alone

blame it on the hour

he’s found no friend to play

Hey Martin

don’t you lie

hiding in your bed

with a migraine head

Let it flow right through you

don’t be so afraid

by all of the sorrow

only humans made

From his dreams

drawn from imagination

don’t know what he sees

some would say

drag him through the city streets

might give him inspiration

Hey Martin

have you found a world

greater than the wonder

of the day before?

Are you drawing a mountain

or an alien

crayon the boy’s face

shining in the sun

OUT ON THE TOWN

And you may find me any day

at any hour

sidewalk

pavement

alleyway

inside the maze

beneath the towers

should you see me

Out on the Town

I’ll be around

alone

or with all you people

just heading out

this is your home

city’s changed

and grown up with you

May I call on you this evening

after Museum

maybe strolling through the Park

after dark

and then Cafe

should you see me

Out on the Town

I’ll be around

alone

or with all you people

just hanging out

this is your home

city’s changed and grown right with you

WORLD IS DIFFERENT AT NIGHT

World is different at night

people tucked tight between their apartment walls

constant drawl of television set

level the balance of contrast and content

traffic drone blown beside the bedside

groans to drift out of sight

The world is different at night

ever present edifice

your sediments shifting

dust uplifting in a phantom seance

lifting the veil to see

suspicious being driven by lamplight

slides inside an ancient phone booth

his youth preserved in glass

outlasting the dangers

the dangers have passed

it’s a world of muted fragments

overused and stagnant

amusing memories harmonized with melody

suffused to become the music of now

pot holed road

smoke unravels

trumped up towers

soles munching gravel

thump of parking meter clicks

a vacant bus drifts

roaming after hours

cobblestones

bottle thrown from a rooftop

don’t even stop

the world is different at night

Park bench discovery

crickets resound this dark dense reverie

from the wilderness flickers the monolithic

metallic skyline trajectory

a futurist projection against the atmosphere

vaporous air

coffee and a bagel in a brown paper bag

nicotine drag

cigarette split.. shit

alone no more

there’s raccoon ravishing a garbage can

there’s turtle on a rock

hovering over a pond

with claws and eyes like mine

each wondering what we’ll find

and by chance finds us

hitting the slabs yellow cabs

ambulance bellowing sirens

awakens the silence

SKYLINE

(instrumental)

CRESTFALLING

In the misty morning rain

I am tired once again

is this the same

or has it changed

what happened to the sunny weather

early morning sea

sorry that I won’t be free

to sense the waves

their fragrance makes

it’s way up to my windowpanes

Some can soar into the maelstrom of the air

I do not dare

i’m rather high

inside the mind is where I spend my time

On all the wasted words that we

should have taken to our heart

but the times keep passing on

through the years

and the wicked lies

through the tears

O love shining on

don’t wait to sail another day

Faith, call it true love

this night I want to break

why do they keep me on...

Healing dawn

sorry I can’t leave alone

I must transcribe

a lullaby

the muse she grants my feelings..

to light the morning sage

fragrant in the atmosphere

If life is dear

and kept in peace

then the spirits will release

All the wasted words that we

should have taken to our heart

but the days keep passing on..

through the moonlight

through the pain

through the healing

and the shame

through the warning

and the war

through the mourning...

TIME IS YOUR OWN

Don’t let them treat you as if you’re wrong

better to realize that time is your own

lies are their way to keep you worried

night after night tossing and turning

I can hear you cry

sighing to the boredom

flee it if you want to fly

feel it and the spirit dies

Given all you were

are you satisfied

being all that you are..

you satisfied?

while they steal away

hide you from the other side

you will never know

Time is Yours to Own

Dream about the years gone by

through the undertaker’s eyes

and find the meaning through the tears and all the pain

while true freedom

waits on the other side

see it through a shaft of light

on the way to love

through the skyline

through the weight of love

through the ways of love

FREE AT LAST

Seems like the war got older

for many a peaceful sword

once the path is forged through sorrow

violence of the world

no matter who is harmed

affects the karma of each one of us

Drones reduce our homes

to broken stones and bones

there’s just some concepts I won’t understand

Write down the words you like to tell me

everything will be all right

express emotions of your mind

And if the heavens still exist

above our eyes to our surprise

We’re free at last

to share this sentiment

And if the heavens still exist

above our eyes to our surprise

express emotions towards the lighter side

Write down the words you like to tell me

everything will be all right

We’re free at last to share this sentiment

And if the heavens still exist

above our eyes to our surprise

express emotions of your mind

Write down the words you like to tell me

everything will be all right

We’re Free at Last to share this sentiment

PHANTOM OF THE ROAD

Living this way

since the early days

mindless escape

to levitate the chains

thousand highways through time and space

sound in frequencies vie to remain

freedom of Information

taught me to believe

power of manipulation

is to dangerous to perceive

satellite of love streaming above the stratosphere

decipher it’s meaning in my ear

Radio

be my friend again

never too late communication

when there’s no static on your station

thousand highways through time and space

sound infrequencies vie to remain

just a Phantom of the Road

when transmission is lost

just a Phantom of the Road

when all transmission is lost

thousand highways through time and space

sounding frequencies vie to remain

just a Phantom of the Road

when transmission is lost

just a Phantom of the Road

when all transmission is lost

DRONE

Thank You,

All you good people

now get down on the dirt

there’s an eye in the sky

where a silver light shines

through it the sane

try and hide from a widow’s fate

while oceans of doom

shape the new dawn

find out where you are

and all that you were

made you a slaver

to their picture of war

poison tides

green in the moonlight

fear and worry

guiding your way

peace indeed

she walked toward the sun

longed just to warn someone

he was praying there too

she said to you

We

can build a dream on love

cast out the hatred

into the void

Who ll remain alive

alone

not a one but you my lord

no one outruns a Drone

No wish to harm

the ones who destroy

you cannot have change

when all hope is gone

when all this begun

who threw the first stone?

now no one is rich enough

to reverse the gun

Who’ll remain alive

alone

not a one but you my lord

no one out runs a Drone

Sky

have I the right to exist?

to carry his broken bones

out of this ditch

One Love

that was all that we needed

could’ve saved us from

all that we feared

Who’ll remain alive

alone

not a one but you my lord

no one out runs a Drone

no one outruns a Drone

FORCE OF HOPE

(instrumental)

BLIND SEA

O, Child

chosen one

here your story’s just begun

walking tall toward the air that you will breathe out there

I fought for all I thought I could

deeds often misunderstood

a sacrifice

worth the price

so you might live and not be

Waylaid by the roadside

with no faith to reach for the other side

with eyes that lost their glory

made blind by the lies of their greed

Sea

you can merge into the sea

below the waves and the rains

can return to her again

escape

preserve your dream of integrity

cleanse their sins with purity

trust in peace

you must believe

that you are free

O, Child

chosen one

history must carry on

walking tall toward the lore of destiny

through guidance of intelligence

you may find the path is met

with simple minds

would not obey

the ones that they left behind

Waylaid by the roadside

no faith to reach for the other side

with eyes that lost their glory

made blind by the lies of their greed

Sea

you can merge into the sea

below the waves and the rains

can return to her again

escape

preserve your dream of integrity

cleanse their sins with purity

trust in peace

you must believe in the Sea

A WEAVE FOR THE WEAVER

(instrumental)

YOU LIKE SHINING ON THE WORLD

Your plight, fool that would be king

life won’t be that way

leave all, you're too bright to see

kindly play that game for me

the sun is up again

they won’t be the same my friend

stay lighter than the wind

nothings ever as it seems

You were born in sunlight

let it shine on me

you like shining on the world

you let it shine on everything

So long to the song you sang

there’s never gonna be that space again

the end might be lost for good

was it ever understood?

don’t walk away

from everything you taught to me

don’t fall away

from all that you've been longing for to be

Time won’t wait for mourning

every world is true

there's nothing left to do

but hide away

hide away like you

You were born in sunlight

you let it shine on me

you like shining on the world

you let it shine on everything

All good things to you

dreams that shine on through

all good dreams to you

all your dreams

all your dreams

came true

in an Angel's voice

music from beyond

the river where you let go

take my old hat off

to the tragedies like you

put your record on

to play it through

I put your record on

And played it all

OPIA INTRO

UNTITLED SKETCH

Have all the golden riffs been worn

I may have nicked this very one

just a reflex of the times when

Life feels good

walking out in through the radio

Playing Lou’s song

people on the streets they know just how to

right you when you’re wrong

We are relating to the sound of

A place way back in distant memory

maybe you heard it as a child of love

the scene we all became a part of

Fade into a village pub

darkness soothes us from the sun

another jukebox afternoon of

space traveling

watching strangers round the corner store

is out of cigarettes

on a paper napkin pen the ink is

running out again

We are relating to the sound of

you may have heard it as a child of love

It’s time you heard that tune

it’s time you heard that tune

the one that knocked you off your tracks

ALTERNATE EVOLUTION

Sneaking through the railway yard

beneath the trestle in the park

we’re done for now if we get caught

don’t lose that pipe weed in the dark

it’s all we got..

headlights in the parking lot

don’t run yet cause it’s not the cops

a boom box and the bag of tapes

we’ll hang here till the Levee Breaks.…

Give me rock and roll religion and I’ll pray

to the Gods of yesterday

Blackberry wine to take us through these summer nights

the power source will blow your mind

The light once red is glowing dim

the current station static skips

we all chip in for batteries

take the trip down Shakedown Street

and Terrapin

WELLSPRING

There’s been a lot of sun

been a lot of rain

don’t know which way to turn

can’t seem to stay in place

so what I’m trying to say is

Change keeps radiating

play your guitar all day

or stare at the walls of space

anything, anything for free

but don’t fight a war with peace

in order to spread your infernal disease

we need a little more restraint please

you’ve gathered enough complaints, dear

to last you another thousand years.

On the evening news

this is the way their story goes

earthquakes, drones, and talent shows

sorry I have to say it

words ought not be of pain

but songs of joy and peace o yea.

It’s not too late

it’s so easy

to omit your mistakes

and say you’re sorry

Wellspring

effervescent ocean

Volcano Artist

waiting for explosion

what a wonderful emotion

reciting your prayers

on soundwaves of devotion

It’s so easy

but you’re a complicated fad

It’s so easy

but you’re a complicated lad

it’s so easy

you’re a complicated gal

it’s so easy

you have to run the show..

Out on the streets I’m walking

land of a thousand choices

may I have a talk with you

while the flowers are a bloom this season

maybe the snow has cleared

there’s still a melancholy feeling in the air

brought to you by voices in despair

On the evening news

this is the way their story goes

earthquakes, drones, and talent shows

sorry I have to say it

words ought not be of pain

but songs of joy and peace o yea.

It’s so easy

but you’re a complicated lad

it’s so easy

but you’re a complicated fad

but it’s so easy

you’re a complicated gal

and it’s so easy

MIDNIGHT IN FROGTOWN

Stay awake now

tired of living life out at sea

try to move yourself

to a place where you can be

shining on the way

you made it all through the day

shining all the way

you made it on through

Here is your last forever

oracle moon sign

in this divine endeavor

feels like the first time

Wake the sundown

cricket sounds they keep the peace

here in Frogtown

home of the tripping tree

motorbike rides the fields

high on a twilight breeze

with no more words to find

and no place left to hide but here

Here Is your last forever

oracle moon sign

in this divine endeavor

feels like the first time

AUDITORY HALLUCINATION

Lurking down the village

past the old Saint Mark’s Hotel

midnight acid rainfall

pissing on the neon hell

dandies in the dive bars

totting up their dollar bills

slopping up the sewage spills

these streets they always gave me thrills

Where you wanna go

Why you wanna make it

How are you gonna stay

When you gonna leave

just a little slow

I never get the joke

don’t want to hear your reason

con some other bloke

What do you wanna know

What are you trying to say

I haven’t got all day

meters running low

Why are you trying to sell

what I don’t wanna buy

I’ve broken all the rules

don’t you even try

I wasn’t born last night

Bedbugs on the subway bench

dead and gone from the human stench

wrench thrown through a window

of a poison plastic mess

I think you got some on your dress

never seen so many cops

strong armed to the teeth

cutting through the sidewalk streets

with electroscopic razor beams

Where you wanna go

Why you wanna make it

How are you gonna stay

When you gonna leave

just a little slow

I never get the joke

don’t want to hear your reason

con some other bloke

What do you wanna know

What are you trying to say

I haven’t got all day

meters running low

Why are you trying to sell

what I don’t wanna buy

I’ve broken all the rules

don’t you even try

I wasn’t born last night

I just wanna tell you

this here’s a stage of historic import

this very stage where we were born

Its the last place on earth where you and I can have a conversation

cause when you have drums like these

and a bass like that

and a crowd that’s pleased

and a beer and a shot

I’ve taken to calling it

The Hollow’s Eve Blues Bash

doesn’t matter if you’re here

as long as you were there

EXCHANGE PLACE

Change the way you think

mind the where you walk

don’t say a thing to make the fakers curse your soul

it’s unconstitutional

I may just dig a hole

I’m working at living

and i’m taking some liberties

keeping it secret till the final masterpiece

wherever the good ones gone

why that’s where I’ll make my home

Mother can’t provide you eternal life

doesn’t mean she can’t do nothing right

show some gratitude before you die

I’d like to make a fair Exchange

withdraw my name from the human race

prayed I’d belong to a Golden Age

O, Lord, I got off at the wrong place

Don’t be persuaded by the glittertube

re created truth and now it’s childproof

don’t go back there again

it’s a sitcom without an end

Mother can’t provide you eternal life

doesn’t mean she can’t do nothing right

show some gratitude before you die

I’d like to make a fair Exchange

withdraw my name from the human race

prayed I’d belong to a Golden Age

O, Lord, I got off at the wrong place

REAL IN THE DARK

In the days that we're living

they won’t wait to long to depart

we got this one life we were given

just try not to take it too hard

let it free you right now

we were born to lose it

spit out the bitter and sour

no need to chew on it

Blow out the candle

in my Cathedral

Soundpower electric guitar

you really want to

how can you please them?

all you do is pray in the dark

rise above it right now

take the window out

by fate we’re driven to sail

not to fall with the weight of the world

Inside my mind

hear from my heart

Real in the Dark

Real in the Dark

Real in the Dark

May look great but on the inside it’s dying

ain’t no way to hide it right now

don’t you hear them

when they calling

suddenly they here without warning

of the perilous climb

unknown horizons

by fate we’re driven to sail

not to fall with the weight of the world

Inside my mind

hear from my heart

Real in the Dark

Real in the Dark

Real in the Dark

MORNING STAR

Sacred sounds they relate

by the shapes that are made

rearranged

by the Morning Star

From the pictures of your mind

you’re trying hard not to find

a reason to follow

the muse had taken you by surprise

you’d be telling yourself lies

if you could let it all pass

There’s a dream in the world

it’s roots stay deep in the soil

awake

the magician within

yea you found her again

in your guitar there’s a song

born within

the latent sacrament

now your gaze is afar

you are a face in the fog

incense burns

the Morning Star has gone

In the pictures of your mind

look around what you’ll find

is a reason to follow

the muse she takes you by surprise

change the color of your eyes

so she can shine again

like new

You won’t make it

without some love in your heart

and you can’t fake it

if you ain’t got that little spark

to keep you alight

In the darkest of the darkest night

SUNSHOWER

Lying in the grass

days to pass

with a cloud

so vast and entertaining

ever changing world drift away

I’ll remain

dedicated to you

through and through

I found an inside pocket of my vest

lit my pipe and took a breath

it’s making my day

in the stillness of a summer rain

In Higher Love

we will rise together

all the world is in view

a Moonchild wanders

the stars ease under

the night is alive is in you

If I have to die for Zion

look to the sky I’ll be shining on you

when you go crashing through Nirvanas

Its gonna be my love that shatters your spirits free

Floating and ascending endless hill view reveries

these scenes won’t cease passing through me

spilling too much wine under the vine trees

I feel a bit empty

when I can’t get to you what else can I do

So catch me if you can

now and then

I’ll be buried within

this world wants me under

its a wonder love

you and I can play this children’s game

in the sun or the rain

it’s a spell we’re creating

when we’re spilling from the ancient cup

In Higher Love

we will rise together

all the world is in view

a Moonchild wanders

the stars he’s under

the night is alive is in you

If I have to die for Zion

look to the sky I’ll be shining on you

when you go crashing through Nirvanas

it’s gonna be my love that shatters your spirits free

FIRST ENCOUNTER

Will you simulate my love

even though it’s been so long

had the sun on my eyes

spires ascending

towards the light

I met you here

only once before

in a dream I saw

streets without you walking

so I said a prayer

and then you were there

Old inside

this bodies mired

Save me

save me from this birth

Age and vice

the crowd resumes beneath the ruins

shaming and fighting though the rain

I imagine you calling

Come away from there

Come away my dear

METROPLOLIS

Routine Dream

the one I always wanted

to start my day in

Metropolis

change screens

arrange for transportation

any time, anywhere

leaving home

easy you’re younger

all the stars are lines

begin again

won’t you let my spirits fly

high so high

Life has just begun

always something here to miss

SAND AND STARS

Satellite

where thoughts did rise

before they died

Listen

to me

when I talk to you

There is a place yet unsold

where we can go to find peace

Way before the television

we prayed to the stars

sleeping round the temple on the dunes

no machine make noise

no timepiece to obey

Came a long way but we found it

ORGANIZING OUT OF CHAOS

Sailor

you and I on a space ship

we can take it anywhere that we want to

real light

always feels just right

See no

situation out of placement

in our ability to navigate it

it’s all

Organizing out of Chaos

Please estimate your destination

tell them at the moment we don’t have one

all just fascination

until we reach the sun

Hang on, baby, hang on

freedom is instigated

hang on, baby, hang on

to your authorization papers

Remember Harlem, New York City

kissed the moon before ignition

wished the world good luck

Organizing out of Chaos

Last night I thought I saw a space invader

inside our disinfected elevator

hang on

was this Omen of the future ?

hang on, baby, hang on

TAP ON MY PIANO

Shadows on the wall

reflecting the moonbeam

luminate the ivory

I will have a cup of tea

don’t spill it on the keyboard

climb up on the seat

play a song with you

on a Sunday evening

nothing on TV

Won’t you

Tap on my Piano

I pass the time with you

high notes in the air

ringing in my ear

tapping my piano

can they hear the noise in here

WALK THROUGH THE CITY

Walk Through the City

me by your right side

light has changed

cross the street

Do you remember?

Will you remember where

you first held my hand

there on Times Square

Long Ago

Snow was falling

high above the city walls

Now I can’t stay

can’t stay away from you

O my love

Don’t you go

my love

CHICCO

Chicco Chicco

Young man learns to laugh at death

silent night

holy night

Old man stares upon his watch

patiently for time

Chicco Chicco

Chicco Chicco

Easy going

on your trip

your reading glasses

and attache’

REMEMBER THE TIME

In the northeast we enjoy the season

it’s the beginning cherry blossom days

so there we were promenading the lawn around the pond

sunshower rainbow

put your coat on it’s not summer yet

Remember the Time

we lost our way home

because of the wine

that we lost our way home

nothing but time

to waste a way on

along for the ride

remember the time

Listen

I’m getting hungry let’s go to eat

Listen

I’m getting tired let’s go to sleep

State of the art

surrounded by sound

listen all night

music we made

warm memories

stay in my head

your voice reminds me

of just how much

your love means to me

Remember the time

the look of your eyes

they say as long as you’re here

you shall be the one

Remember the Time

when you drank too much wine

we climbed a mountain of stairs

into thin air

THE BLUE SHADOW OF SPACE

When you hold me in the blue shadows

reflection of curiosity

Blue skin one within

embalmed in careless youth

prolong the answer

eternity is seeking

Your skull

an artifact in my hands

cast in immortal twilight

our incantation speaks real as death

Search each other for new skins of innocence

And Know you’ll never leave

The Blue Shadow of Space

HAS TO BE WITH YOU

Sound of waves

sky awaken

Here with me

your are my blanket

we need sleep

be so young again

remember colors change

just like my morning mood

I’ve become in love with love

Has to Be with You

Has to be with You

OLEANA

With our spirits weakening

has our marriage lost it’s ring

take good care your broken wing

my love

Oleana

leave me here

in the city

don’t despair

Oleana

no one there

to keep you up at night

How can one life last so long?

with no sleep and coughing blood

so much has already gone from us

Oleana

leave me here

in the city

don’t despair

Oleana

there’s no one there

keep you up at night

with the drizzle of the rain

remember me not in pain

don’t just hide behind those shades all day

kept the house forever clean

now there’s no more energy

try to make something to eat my dear

Haze- nation fall away

Someone said-it won’t be long

Don’t you worry about me

i’ll just watch whats on tv

in the dark without a star above

Oleana

leave me here

in the city

don’t despair

Oleana

there’s no one there

keep you up at night

doctors tell me try to walk

when I take a step I fall

it’s just no use any more my dear

Today the deacon visited

gave me Gods’ own holy bread

prayers he said freshen my memory

days they just fall away

someone said it won’t be long

Oleana

leave me here

in the city

don’t despair

Oleana

there’s no one there

keep you up at night

PASSENGERS

I tried to tell you

bout the meaning of my life

rhyme to reason

with an organ

and a poem

I adore you

so much more than I can see

like two monkeys in our tree

when you are with me

I’m at peace

Passengers

we’d escape

but there’s no way

out of this grey

one must stay

a Prisoner

of traffic on

the avenue

the detour route

well it won’t go through

settled in these whittling hours

here without your healing powers

hanging on

to your smile on my eyes

Snows a blanket

it’s a very slow day

there’s your guitar tuned to

play our song

from now on

for Passengers

we’d escape

but there’s no way

out of this grey

one must stay

a Prisoner

of traffic on

the avenue

the detour route

well it won’t go through

settled in these whittling hours

here without your healing powers

hanging on

to your smile on my eyes

Misanthrope

life’s crusade

but theres no hope

no alternate

was ever made

for Passengers

dead end streets

vanquished dreams

settled in these whittling hours

here without your healing powers

hanging on

to your smile

in my eyes

LETTERS

Time’s caught up with us the truck is here

we always feared this day would come

wish me luck

the fun is finally over

received the envelope

enclosed a note

of perfumed leaves

they help to ease

into the dream that our life used to be

Don’t believe them

Please don’t worry

I’ll be coming home again

In your letter

I hear your voice dear

All these years

and still you care

Spent my birthday

on the desert sand

with both my hands

upon a gun

afraid to turn around

and see someone

at night I hear the sounds

but only your voice calms me down

the silent wind

reminds me of the way love has to end

Don’t believe them

Please don’t worry

I’ll be coming home again

from the ladder

I hear your voice dear

All these years end.

SOLITUDE

Evening Star,

seeing all from where you are

fragile creature born on this winter lawn

a boy

everlasting joy

Solitude

wide awake

in outer spaces

cloaked in blue

where I can breathe the air

into a distant stare

upon the breeze

above the trees

found a place

sounds of peace

and I just can’t sleep

so I stay and dream

Solitude

Woodlawn fields

headstones mark the time they failed to live

preserve the plain with their fine names

alone descend the hills back home again

Solitude

to meditate the afternoon

have time dictate

another day to burn

while incense fills the urn

with ashen leaves

upon the breeze

I found a place

above the trees

through this odyssey

of eternity

let me be

left in peace

EASY RIDER GO

Waken in the morning blue

saddle up

get your motor running smooth

for the long ride awaiting you

This is the day to roll

escaping the static crawl

of taxes, tolls, and congested roads

Hieroglyphics fade away

in the distance

On a lonesome highway out of space

Alienation

Easy Rider go

to a place nobody knows

Take the interstate

outside a town

outside the city

Leaving your world behind

it’s superstitious and sublime

but if you stick around how can the lost be found

so fill up the tank

what’s left in the bank it’s not salvation

lest you can leave the station with your peace of mind

Elation of the soul

your manifesto

Uplift the greatest fear

let the engines take you there

Easy Rider go

to a place nobody knows

Take the interstate

outside a town

outside the city

ILLEGALLY DEAD

They’re coming for your vote

gunning for a united nation

declaration made

human rights are taken

war against the brain

of the individual

who called and no one came

solely indivisible

and why is your mind

so tender inside

given a chance you’d make it

I guess you thought

you had a bit more heart

You were clearly mistaken

Do you know

we’re all here to go

in one row

the catastrophic goal

only your hate can wage this war

redraw the plan to break it

gave you poison on the road to ruin

now your love’s forsaken

words writ on my crypt

secretive inscription

Illegally dead

cremated

while sleeping...

O why was my mind

so tender inside

given a chance I’d make it

I guess I thought

I had a bit more heart

I was clearly mistaken....

Do you know

we’re all here to go

in one row

the catastrophic goal

only your hate can wage this war

redraw the plan to break it

gave me poison on the road to ruin

now our love’s forsaken

FADE

Wade into the shadow

to escape the sun

whichever way the wind blows

you’ve got to hit the road

break from the crowd

fear spells trouble

old enough to know

you’ve got to carry on

In the land of milk and honey

taken more than I can give

there’s your hand reaching out again

With the brand of god and money

preach more than I can stand

there’s your hand reaching up again

(While we)

Fade

out toward a plastic shore

trashed beneath the waves

of this anthropomorphic age

Fade

out toward a plastic shore

trashed beneath the waves

of this anthropomorphic age

Why divide if not to conquer

to steal your very soul

create a queen and a monster

an imaginary war

then hide behind the law

who no one saw

commit the perfect crime

while you’re waiting in line

In the land of milk and honey

taken more than I can give

there’s your hand reaching out again

With the brand of god and money

preach more than I can stand

there’s your hand reaching up again

OUTLAW

guide your soul

through all the grave sights below your eyes

rise a sermon to the dead

there isn’t time to hide or fear their scent

Say that I’m the one that you want

Why you say it Why you say it ?

Say that I’m the one that you need

Why you say it Why you say it ?

Rise and climb

be aware

of all the traps set to snare your mind

rely on instinct you’ll be right

fight against them

you will stay your life

Say that I’m the one that you want

Why you say it Why you say it ?

Say that I’m the one that you need

Why you say it Why you say it ?

WHAT WE HAD GOING

All alone

on a burnt out balcony

Soul to keep and I won’t leave it

Mindless knaves

arrows doused in flames

Castle breached

as if by treason

Try to break

the future of my fate

out of phase with your own reason to hate

O Look what we had going

such a simple life now we can’t make it no more

O look what we had going

such a simple life now we can’t make it no more

Now it’s time

to face the music of the day

cacophony devoid of meaning

beat the drum with stones

until your kingdom comes

to the ones who dare their freedom

O Look what we had going

such a simple life now we can’t make it no more

O look what we had going

such a simple life now we can’t make it no more

I FIND THE ANSWER IN YOUR EYES

If I could take this breath

out in the world tonight

I would say my last goodbye

to all this brazen laughter

there comes tomorrow’s sign

herein all the world a lie

ordinary people

keep pace their own delight

all those mansions in the sky

troubled were my thoughts

so shattered and distraught

caught between the darkened light

never felt so far

stars aligned and fell apart

into fragments over time

I was only searching

a question in my mind

I find the answer in your eyes

This was a real life reckoning

born from a sacrifice

I Find the Answer in Your Eyes

I was always searching

questions within my mind

I find the answer in your eyes

This was a real life reckoning

born from a sacrifice

I Find the Answer in Your Eyes
